Instructions:
The 47th diary of Joseph Mathia Svoboda spans November, 1897 to August, 1898. This timeline enables you to explore events that are mentioned in Joseph’s diary. If you are interested in learning more about what happened, you can click on the “Read more…” located at the end of the event description. This will take you to the diary viewer, where you can view the transcription of the event in the diary, along with the accompanying diary image. Be aware that clicking “Read more” will open up the diary viewer on the existing tab, rather than a new tab.
Event Description Controls:

Click the left and right arrow buttons located on either side of the event depicted to view the next/previous event.
Timeline Controls:

To scan through the events, click the timeline, hold, and drag your mouse / keypad left or right.
- To view an event, click on its corresponding tab on the timeline.
- To zoom in (increase the spacing of the events on the timeline), click the plus sign magnifying glass located to the left of the timeline.
- To zoom out, use the subtraction sign magnifying glass.
- To jump back to the first event in the timeline, click the back arrow located under the magnifying glasses.
